Even though I value wide open spaces, free of kids toys, I have secretly always wanted a train table. Behemoth as they may be, a train table can entrance any child for hours upon hours. The only problem was, I could never bring myself to spent hundreds of dollars on something as unattractive as this. The only train table I've loved, cost almost $1000 (and can be viewed here).
Then I had an idea - what about taking one of those great LACK coffee tables from IKEA and turning it into a train table?
$40 later, we had a beautiful one that I was happy to share our living space with.
I pulled out our train collection and Daddy and I took the best of the best and worked them into the most interesting layout we could. Then I grabbed a glue-gun and began securing down the tracks because I really wanted to help the kids keep their space clean I'm a control freak.
I got on Pinterest today and searched "train tables" and found some other great DIY train tables like this one from IKEA Hackers and this one from Delightful Order. It just goes to show you can make a train table from just about any kind of coffee table.
Great job!

Thanks! I'm not sure where those came from as all train pieces are about six years old now. Possibly Brio?
