I am sad to report that we are all back home, safe and sound. Seven incredible days passed in a blink and I owe it all to good friends, an essential ingredient to the perfect vacation with kids. I still have pictures and thoughts to share about our time south of the border, which I'll try to post before the week's end. One such share-worthy event is a great restaurant where we enjoyed dinner in Old Town. It took a lot for us not to return to this place on our second and final night out in PV, *sin niƱos*. Then again, I can't think of any spot in town I wouldn't be willing to revisit. Did I mention I'm sad to be home safe and sound? (Sigh.)
Joe Jack's Fish Shack happens to be a place I stumbled upon two years ago while on a day-stop from our cruise ship. My mother and I, plus my little guy (who can do no wrong), were off to do a little exploring/shopping/eating while other family members headed to a beach. Here is a snapshot from that fateful day, my first at Joe Jack's:
We had such a great lunch there, and the baby was so incredibly well behaved (because he's never really been bad), that I picked up a Joe Jack's Fish Shack shirt for Daddy. That's how highly I thought of the place. As soon as I mentioned the words "great fish tacos" to our friends, they said, "Where?" and next thing anyone knew, we were sitting upstairs on the rooftop terrace at Joe Jack's.
I love the colored market lights that hang above the tables, wrapped with green vines...
...the vintage Mexican movie posters plastered on the brick walls...
...and the little signature neon mermaids that hang on every mojito served. No wonder there was a line out onto the street when we left!
Chips and guac, tuna tartar, shrimp ceviche, French fries and snapper tacos, battered or grilled - it was all so delicious and I can't wait to get back in the shack! Until then, I'm determined to master the battered snapper taco at home. :)
