Weekends have been tough lately. But then again, it is winter. I find that if we don't plan ahead, we come to at about 11:57 AM, still in our pj's, house a disaster, I become overwhelmed with guilt, and none of the kids can be convinced to get dressed or motivate. I just hate those kind of days. Yesterday was not like that. We talked about what we wanted to do over Friday dinner, and then we did it! We hit some of the city's greatest landmarks, walked on the bridge, strolled around Lands End, played down at the Sutro Bath ruins, tried some new ethnic food and ate ice cream sundaes at Ghirardelli Square. It was as good as we could have hoped for - not without breakdowns or fussying, but nothing more than would have happened had we stayed closer to home. The end result was we returned home at 7PM on a Saturday night to a sparkling clean house! Well, almost.
The weather was incredible yesterday, a typical winter in SF. Clear blue skies and no wind. (This picture looks terribly scary - don't worry, he was completely safe!)
I was so impressed with the state park buildings. Both the bridge and Lands End pavillions were impressive architectually. The Heath tiled bathroom at the Lands End stole my heart!
The absolute highlight of the day was taking an early dinner with the kids at an Ethiopian restaurant. We were both nervous that with everyone pooped from walking we might be asking for trouble by introducing a new meal but I had to power through. And they loved it! We ordered all the food mild and kids couldn't believe that they were actually ALLOWED to eat with their hands! The three year old slept through the whole thing, which made me a little sad. But he was happy to wake-up on our way the Ghirardelli Square. He couldn't believe he got to eat ice cream for dinner. ;)
