Crikey! I forgot to get a picture of The London Eye in its entirety!
I also forgot to do the same for everything else we did in South Bank - like The Globe Theater, The Clink Prison AND The Royal Hind.
Anywho... Our day exploring South Bank was a first for all of us. Other than a quick visit to The Tate in the dead of winter twelve years ago, this is the first time I'd had a chance to take in this area of the city. And it was incredible! We had perfect weather this day and just walked for miles taking in all the people, performers, and sites. The whole area was so alive and energetic!
Coke was doing a massive promotion with these mini cans. The perfect size!
There are so many cute and creative food trucks along our route. I could have spent our entire day just photographing them.
Musicians and artists - there was no shortage.
The bubble man was a favorite performer of the little kids, and so we stayed for close to 30 minutes.
The Globe Theater was closed for tours due to a dress rehearsal. We were so bummed. As excited as my kids were to finish their Shakespeare class last last season, they were still looking forward to seeing where it all started. We opted for the visitor's center instead.
We stumbled on The Clink Prison Museum while walking and kids begged to go in. I was a little hesitant. Something about *medieval prison* sounding gory to me. The woman at the ticket office assured us it was fine for the five year old.
Uhhh...NO.
Our final stop was The Golden Hind - a recreation of Sir Francis Drake's ship! I remember learning about this story in elementary school. Not to mention we live just two blocks off Sir Francis Drake Blvd!
At this point in the day the kids were exhausted from walking. Instead of continuing on to the Tower Bridge, and the Tower of London, and headed home for rest and Tandoori take-out.
